Note the Physics:

• If the distance traveled between successive times remains constant,
  • the velocity is constant, and
  • the acceleration is zero.
• If the distance decreases,
  • the speed decreases, and
  • the acceleration is in the opposite direction to the velocity.
• If the distance increases,
  • the speed increases, and
  • the acceleration is in the same direction as the velocity.
