Note the Physics
- The next position of the object can be found from the intitial
position, initial velocity, acceleration, and total elapsed time.
- In this simulation, the x
and y parts of the motion are independent of each other. This is a reasonably good approximation for
the motion of a thrown rock, but not for a styrofoam ball.
- More realistically, air resistance depends upon
the speed of the object, and the two component parts of the motion are related. When
this occurs the horizontal and vertical components are said to be "coupled".
